US slaps sanctions on AvtoVAZ, Moskvich, Transmashholding, Avtodor
WASHINGTON, Sep 14 (PRIME) -- The U.S. has imposed sanctions against Russia’s AvtoVAZ, Moskvich, Transmashholding, Avtodor, UEC-Saturn, Soyuz, several Arctic-related organizations and enterprises in the field of ore and diamond mining, the U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement on Thursday.
Among the mineral-related companies on the list are Yanskaya Gornaya Kompaniya, Taymyrskiye Resursy, Taymyrskaya Gornaya Kompaniya, Sibirskaya Ugolnaya Kompaniya, Redmetkoncentrat and others. The U.S. also added Severnaya Almaznaya Kompaniya and AGD Diamonds to the restrictive list.
Russian carmaker Sollers, railroad operator Globaltrans, AK Bars Bank and Sinko Bank were also added to the U.S. sanctions list.
Among the individuals in the new package were Russian businessmen Iskandar Makhmudov and Andrei Bokaryov.
The U.S. also imposed sanctions on the Arctic Transshipment Company, its CEO Yuri Safyanov and two vessels associated with the company and Russian Copper Company and its founder Igor Altushkin.
The sanctions were also imposed on a number of Russian defense companies, including Novator, Fyodorov plants, 419th aircraft repair plant, Chelyabinsk Tractorny Zavod, 71st and 72nd auto repair plants and others.
The U.S. extended its permit to ship oil by sea for import from Russia’s Sakhalin-2 project to Japan until June 28, 2024.
The U.S. authorized transactions with a number of Russian companies, including Transmashholding, AvtoVAZ, the Moskvich plant, Sollers, United Metallurgical Company (OMK), the machine plant Tonar, Russian Cooper Company and the Arctic Transshipment Company until December 13.
